Walkabout KK was fun fun. Yong and I flew in from penang via kl, and Intan from KL straight. but she got there earlier, so she waited for us at the airport.
We went to the mountains where we snapped photos of the peak of mount kinabalu, and went for the canopy walk and bathed in the poring hot water springs. For me, those events were nice and refreshing, but since it wasnt my first time, they were just natural. So the highlight of the day falls to: seeing a rafflesia in bloom! for those who dont know, the rafflesia buds takes up to 9 months to grow, but when they finally do bloom, they rot away after 5-7 days. So imagine how rare it is to see a rafflesia in bloom! The flower was protected and gated off so that no humans can go and destroy it, which was good, but then, i didnt get to get really close to it and see if it really stinked. But flies were hovering the flower, so i guess i'll just believe them. How many people can go to Sabah, and claim they have seen a blooming rafflesia? OKlah.. apart from the one at the national park yang gila besar and artificial itu. So i'm glad that my friends are able to brag about that.
Was supposed to go to pulau, but it rained, so i brought them to the wet market, and filipino market, where my friends memborong dgn giatnya. we also went to the Monsopiad Village. Again... lucky! Since it's may already, there were some people filming the harvesting ritual, and some bobohizans were singing, and we got to watch it as well... Pesta Kaamatan is end of may. Sila datang. The highlight of the day was of course.. mr woohi trying to sumpit Yong. mr woohi = dancer in a cawat. Not sure if his purpose of sumpiting yong was to make her his partner, or to have her for dinner. my friends being the gila sporting people (even more sporting than the mat salleh's) tried the tarian buloh. Good thing they tak terkepit.
The next day we finally went to pulau, and my friends yang konon konon tak pandai swim, snorkel tak hengat! Got to see an assortment of fishies, even a pari. too bad i didnt have my tombak, else we would have had pari for lunch/dinner.
We took thousands of pictures (exaggeration) with my... ehem... new skinny T, so i'll upload some photos on facebook when i have the time.
All in all a successful trip. Only dissapointed that my parents werent home, but all in the line of duty [fist shake at their duty giver]. I really hope yong and Intan had fun. No need to wait for my wedding also can go KK.
So... who is in line for walkabout kk 2nd trip?
